| "The name 'Les Jonquilles' (the daffodils) was chosen by Hilary (who was I to argue) to remind her of her country of birth. However, as always I had the last words on the matter. "yes dear" before I planted them all!
Hilary (H) and Ken welcome you to this well presented, two bed roomed gite. The self-contained accommodation, which is traditionally built in local granite, was chosen because of its ideal location and lies on the outskirts of the charming commune of Le Guerno. Whilst situated in a tranquil rural setting, the nearest beach is only six miles away and numerous tourist sights are within easy reach.
"We share the adjoining longere with our cat Frankie (he has blue eyes) and will do all we can to ensure that you enjoy your stay with us. We hope that you will find us a relaxed (and overweight) couple who will allow you to dictate the type of holiday you want. Whether you want to beach it every day or just flop here on a sun lounger, that is fine by us. Perhaps you are looking for property to buy? If we can offer tips or put you in contact with agents, let us know.
Easily accessible from Roscoff, St Malo, Caen or Cherbourg , (ASK US ABOUT CROSS CHANNEL FARE REDUCTIONS), the cottage stands deep in Bretagne countryside but is only a fifteen minute drive to the coast and the nearest village shops are just three kilometers away. Markets abound and Hilary now has the entire week programmed to visit a different market on each day! We believe our location to be perfect in offering easy access to beautiful beaches and a host of local tourist sights.
The Medieval rampart cities of Vannes and Guerand are a short drive away as is the beautiful Golfe de Morbihan. Contrastingly, the more commercial and chic resort of La Baule is quickly reached by an express route. Does a round of golf on a links course or within the grounds of an enchanting chateau appeal? How about hacking through the countryside on horseback? A day with the children (all ages) at an activity centre?
Thanks to our tireless and dedicated study, as our weight testifies, we can speak first hand about the local restaurants and with our guests in mind, we have selflessly committed ourselves to continue the research! Remember also that Penerf is famous for its shellfish, particularly oysters and mussels and why not accompany the local people and gather your own?
One of the main reasons for us moving over two hundred miles further south, was the improved climate. Our part of Brittany boasts its own microclimate giving longer warmer summers and mild spring/autumn seasons. The accessibility to Channel ports is another strength, but consider also, the possibility offered by ever cheaper flights to airports at Rennes, Nantes and Dinard. Even with the added expense of car hire, the cost is far from prohibitive and now, FLYBE have flights to Brest (2hrs 40mins drive from us) from Exeter, Birmingham and Southampton.
Due to the benefits of central heating and being double glazed throughout, we are able to offer year round accommodation and consider our ‘out of season’ charges to give exceptional value. We will be pleased to discuss longer lets as these may be especially helpful to prospective purchasers and the fitted connection point for phone/broadband communication provides additional benefit." |
| Situated between the Gulf of Morbihan and the Loire valley, we enjoy one of the best climates to be found in France and our sunshine rate rivals many of the more southern areas. Les Jonquilles is surrounded by fields and sits in grounds of about an acre, mainly lawned. We have pear and cherry trees as well as grape vines. A separate enclosed lawn provides an ideal play area for younger children and has swings to keep them occupied. There is ample car parking space and we offer guests the opportunity to try their hand at croquet, table tennis or boules. For the less energetic we have a variety of board games to be enjoyed on the terrace over a bottle of wine, or two!

The refurbished gîte features double glazing throughout, and has a large, fully equipped kitchen/diner. A wealth of equipment is provided including an oven, five ring gas hob, refrigerator with freezer compartment, microwave, coffee perculator and toaster. The ground floor accommodation also provides a lounge, with phone point ( for long lets only) CD/tape/radio player,English television channels and a DVD player, fully tiled shower/bathroom with vanity unit and automatic washing machine. There is a separate toilet.
|
| Upstairs the sleeping accommodation comprises two bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other a double bed. There is ample space in either room for a cot whilst the twin can take an additional smaller bed. Both rooms have fitted wardrobes and drawer units. Clean bedlinen is provided. Full central heating is fitted to the gîte and this feature may be of particular interest to those considering an out of season break, or who want a base to house hunt or just get to know the beautiful area around us. For those thinking of buying holiday accommodation or a permanent home, we can put you in contact with agents and of course, offer first hand experience. |
 |
We consider our gîte to be amongst the most competitive available and to represent very good value, but more than that, we want our guests to enjoy their stay with us."
